Deerman Spotted Off Highway 609.

An aerial map of the Village that is Rosalind. You can see where Highway 609 comes into play and where Highway 854 crosses over. Township Rd 442 takes over while driving through the Village.

If you’re not familiar with Highway 609, it runs for forty-two kilometers in length or twenty-six miles for those who use the Imperial system. It’s running right under the Village of Rosalind. It’s mainly used by Truckers transporting the harvest or those traveling through the countryside. It’s honestly a very lonely road, nestled between farmers fields, with crops stretching as far as the eye can see. Speckled through the landscape you’ll see the odd farmhouse occupied by hard-working families, though there are some that are nothing but empty shells.

Those who dare to enter will see a world long since forgotten. If those abandoned homesteads could only talk I wonder what they’d say? Though that isn’t important for this article, I just always loved old markers that once held love and life.

This sighting of the Deerman place in the spring of 1987 during the beginning week of June. The weather was warm and smelled like new life was in blossom from the fields where wheat was growing. An old man by the name of J. Roberts, who drove Semi for a company located outside of Edmonton. J. Roberts was transporting his cargo after a long haul through most of the province and in the distance he reported seeing someone or something dart across the highway. Quickly he slammed on the brakes in an attempt not to hurt whatever it was.

While the truck slowed to a halt, he investigated the area and found that he was alone. At first, he thought maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him. But as the dust settled and he calmed down, he turned to his right and saw what could only be described as a man from the stomach down. The rest he said was a mishmash of human qualities crossed with a Deer. He described the head as looking almost exactly like a Buck’s. He went on to describe its eyes as being almost lifeless, like that of a dolls eyes or those of a Great White. He felt a sickening feeling wash over him as if he wasn’t supposed to see the identity of this strange creature.

He recalled that he quickly drove off not wanting anything else to do with it. Since this encounter, he’s always kept his eye’s out for it and so he began documenting his experiences with it. Though, that was the first and only time he laid witness to the Deerman.

Just what is this mix of human and animal? Where did it come from? And is it of this Earth? This is not just an isolated incident of the only oddity within the world around us. From Bigfoot to the Lochness Monster and even to the Mothman. We are hearing reports of creatures that the evolution books tell us that shouldn’t be real. Is this the new era of mutant creatures coming out of the woodwork? Perhaps, all the GMO’s and chemicals we use and flush into the environment once we’re done with them helped give a hand in their existence? It wouldn’t be the first time to be honest with you if you don’t believe me look up “The Squid of Plant 9” the text is linked for your convenience.

Maybe it’s the effect of our interference with nature? If so, if that’s the case then are their more? When there’s one there’s usually a group of them to breed. I’m not sure, but I intend to find out and take you along for the ride.

Introduction to the Deerman of Rosalind, Alberta.

I’m starting this forum of sorts in the hope of educating those who haven’t heard of the Deerman.

First of all, let me just say that I am no way a crackpot. The legend of the Deerman started in the playgrounds

of small Albertan rural communities and with many who claim to have seen this abnormal being.

Now, you probably wonder why I’m doing this? And believe me, I ask myself that too. But it’s for fun, I’m

researching this topic in the hopes of bringing it to the forefront of educating those who are interested in the

field of Cryptozoology or those who just love to read up on urban legends and the unknown.

The origins of the Deerman dates back to before the incorporation of Rosalind into a village back in 1966.

Many eyewitnesses reported spotting said creature during the summer and harvest season. Usually on the

outskirts of the fields, watching the farmers plant and harvest. Many seem to think that the Deerman is the

offspring of beast and the Devil. In a vain attempt of spreading its evil to others. While some say it’s a genetic

experiment that broke free.

Though many claim to have seen it, there are still few who think it’s a hoax, created by the hands of bored farm

kids. This may be the case, but I am here to document everything that I find. In a hope to better understand this

creature and put this story to rest.

The first sighting was by the son of a farmer who’s family traveled there for a better life. Once established there,

they turned to farm the land in the hopes of raising a crop. Soon, that reported hearing strange sounds coming

from the fields at dusk and when they would wake up. They passed these sounds off to nothing more than Coyotes

possibly. Soon, livestock joined the farm and over a matter of a few weeks the Cows were dying off one by one.

Reports were springing up over the county that sightings of a strange being running across country roads startling

those who’ve witnessed such a sight. It was the Deerman, ever since the founding of the town these sightings have

lived on over the generations. Has this being called that chunk of the land home before the founding or was it

brought perhaps from a family that was cursed? Or maybe it’s a warning of things to come. Maybe a doorway has

been opened that needs to be shut?
